To Mum with Love

...its mother's day again.

& mummies are the queens.

*photo-loaded entry

my plan for this year's occasion was a homecooked dinner and a mango mousse cake. dad kindly drove me out for grocery shopping early in the morning.. and snapped many ugly candid shots, haha.

elaine says,
"choosing the right ingredients is a paramount step to success."

HAHA just ignore me.

all dressed up for lunch.

Tao's @ Paradiz Centre
surprise! it wasn't exactly one since she had hinted about coming here long ago. only that we faked we were heading to rendezvous nasi padang.

this restaurant works with a 7-course meal system where they offer a few choices for individual selection. first came buttered toasts with a creamy bacon mushroom cheese gratin, a salad, soup, grape sorbet, sauteed garlic mushrooms, our main courses, desserts, followed by a pot of tea each.

baked flounder with cheese for her;
grilled snapper in japanese sauce for me.

grilled snapper- a small fillet done tender, sweetened by a drizzle teriyaki glaze.

one family united (:

presenting her present...olay anti-aging cream & face mask!
okay her smile looked pretty much forced.

*elaine's dinner service
mother's day special infused with mango flavours!

only had three guests for the day because sis was out at dinner with her friends (complaining i did not inform her of me cooking). so the food was merely multiplied by 4 shares and portions became larger.

Asian Tofu Salad
a combination of mesclun leaves and warm baby spinach, seasoned pan-fried taugwa, cherry tomatoes and a self-created oriental ginger honey-soy dressing. everyone loved the dressing, but i forgot to sprinkle the chopped peanuts over!

Deep-fried Button Mushrooms
fresh parsley-crusted white fungo button mushrooms deep-fried to a crispy golden brown, served with mayonnaise dip.

juicy insides.

Surf & Turf
breaded paprika fish fillet paired with honey-baked chicken, sided with a sweet potato mash, appetising mango & avocado salsa and a homemade creamy mango sauce.

Baked Fish and Chicken
prepared this blander choice for myself in order to protect my weak stomach. btoh baked, with the fish seasoned with a mixture herbs and wolfberries.

Mango & Apple Twin Delight
mango pudding in a glass, a petite apple-filled square puff and a dash of raspberry coulis (puff inspiration from four leaves bakery, hee =p )

dinner took so much time and energy, i had to forgo my mango mousse cake ):

Breakfast with the maternal relatives.
Yuen Xiang Yuan @ Changi Road

D24 Durian puffs for all mothers!
really dragged myself out of bed to make them. i really hated to handle durians but this was probably the best no-fail snack with my aunts.

& they all were full of praise for them.
thanks for appreciating! (:

family crowd

aunt gina ordered a table-full of deepfried items and spicy mee goreng (which all have high potentials of killing my tummy) so the vegetarian charsiew baos were the main thing i had. stuffed myself with all 3 omg!

my beloved grandma, with my flower & card!
LOVE HER LOTS.

Dinner with paternal grandma
Ding Tai Fung @ Junction 8

omg something terrifying happened to me as we picked her up from her house. haha kinda scary but hilarious, the animal family should know =p

a MUST-HAVE. xiao long baos!
these were heavenly....

final shot: daddy, me & my shrimp & bamboo shoot lamian

both all the mothers involved had fun.
happy mother's day! <3
