...yet another birthday.
the sep-oct-nov-dec timeframe is a birthday relay period. my family's birthdays, og mates birthdays, lots of friends birthdays... time to get broke.
this year sis had an off-day and i managed to exploit a lunch treat from her. are you supposed to treat on your birthday, or people giving you a treat?
its a flexi thing, the smart move is to twist it to your advantage.
hah.
we did lunch at Coffee Club, Siglap.
lucky her had some UOB visa deal so she saved on one of our cakes.
same old sister & a very lacklustre dory dish
dinner was at a new vegetarian-find, somewhere off bendemeer. we ordered over 10+ dishes and 3 of them were entirely mine, haha!

happy 24th birthday, sis.
i hope your wish was to find a husband soon. asap =D

Tom's Palette
i've found the numberrr 1 icecream!
made with love, passion, hope & sweat.
yide's recommendation.
this place is in Shaw Towers, a building somewhere along Beach Road. yide was viewing my food photo book here, when the owner asked to have a look at it too. in the end, we (me & owner) spent a long time discussing about f&b matters!
when the food-creating-passionates meet. haha.
& hah! he is actually the trusty supplier and creator of the icecreams served at Wild Rocket. i managed to dig that out.
returning to the highlight.
fabulously smooth icecream~
textures hit, flavours wow & service thumbs up.
i don't know about you, but i did love it.
hazelnut & cherry almond, teh tarik & apple pie
these were large cups but i guess i need the jumbo packs next time round =D

The Cow-Fish Date
what do girls do when they meet up?
eat lar!
so there, i revived one-third of my longing-to-catch-up-with-animal-familywhen Sarah dated me out. i seriously seriously miss hanging out with them all...
fyi, i have missed sch for a period of time. don't ask.
makan-ing is happy therapy.
we dug into bento lunches at the yakitori restaurant Nanbantei, followed by guiltfull slices at Big O Cafe. yum-o!
yakitori chef in action~
Big O Cafe @ Wheelock Place
moomoo suggested the $6.95 hi-tea cake deal over here. any slice of cake off the shelve & any choice of caffeinated drinks.
bad photography
somewhat-better photography
DIG IN.
i loved my Baileys Cheesecake (:

Birthday Mum

Happy XX birthday, Mummy!
if you were to ask me how old my mum is, i really can't give an accurate answer. she is really good in keeping mum about her age (like they say age is a woman's secret!) that i realised we only use a single large candle for her birthday cakes!
my only clue is that she's 3 years younger than dad.
and my dad's age, i can't recall.
LOL.it wasn't meant to be a joke.
this year, sis & i were the lone rangers left to celebrate her "10th" birthday with her because dad went on a business trip to Prague.
Mum's a buffet fanatic.
the actual day, we had Chilli Padi (peranakan buffet)
the day after, she & i visited Vienna International Buffet!

in comparison to Pariss, this was way more worthwhile for its quality and variety. but still, it didn't come cheap. bill was $90 for 2 and i had to wallop plates of seafood + desserts before making the trip worth paying. hah.
then for the family celebration.
not buffet, phew~
lunch was settled at a vegetarian eating house followed by mum's generous treat to Swensen's. seems like its gonna be her yearly tradition soon.
in line with mid-autumn, i made mooncakes for them~
snowskin white lotus paste, snowskin pandan lotus
both filled with almond slices & homemade paste.
people. 3 tables in total.
us.
Swensen's @ Thomson Plaza
they had pretty cool mirrored-walls to snap with.

everyone was free to order whatever they like!
Yong sisters & grandma!
the Siew family
the Yong family
the Tan family
& more of the family.. engrossed in the icecream.
MY create-you-own-sundae,
pistachio almond, hazelnut icecream
diced almonds & strawberry! (:
and huge crowns of whipped cream.
valerie, jamie, me
... & the figures of ben and aunt angie ambushing behind. haha!
that sums up the dessert session at Swensen's;
with compliments, from mummy.

Samoo's Reappearance
wah, i managed to date the mia girl out again!
in summary, we're both in the same boat.
& this date is purely relaxation-intended (:
She chose White Dog Cafe for our lunch & dessert (even though i was silently craving for the bigger portions at Hog's Breath), where both the food and service failed to impress me so i wouldn't post the photos.
BUT THIS WAS LOVE.
hah. because the cakes we had at White Dog were just barely passable, i had to have another round of desserts to make up for the discontentment.
Bravissimo's Baileys & Strawberry Yogurt were yummilicious (:
watched 12 Lotus, certainly not intended.
was a sad tale with a sad ending.
not my thing.
Liven up with dinner~
Waraku @ The Central
each had our mains, and a Hokkai Salad to share.
food's good.

all her 'test-try' shots.

we enjoyed dinner (:
for post-dinner digestion,
we took a walk along the river to view the mid-autumn lantern displays.
its a bad year for the horses next yr AGAIN.

when will we stop mia-ing soon? sigh.
