Rise and shine to make carrot cakes!
you know those rectangular slabs of traditional hong kong carrot cakes? my grandmother's version is legendary... she only makes them once a year during cny and we never fail to gobble everything up during breakfast. then all of a sudden, she decided to hand down the family recipe.
since my sister has got absolutely no interest in culinary, i was the only serious one taking down notes. grandma basically demonstrated while we stood around to watch and help out.

smells super fragrant with those shrimps and chinese sausages!

I never knew the whole proccess was so much hard work; it may look pretty easy but there are actually many details to take care of. this is why we only get to eat it once a year, heh.
after 2 hours of charcoal-flame steaming...
All it takes is some slicing and panfrying to get a hot piping plate of soft carrot cakes...
time to tuck into heart-warming homemade goodness...
